the exact problem, so we decided to perform an inspection in detail.

Visual inspection of 2 gearboxes on location:
- Dismantling of the inspection hatches of the gearboxes.

- Determination of the condition of the bearings by (digital) pictures.
- The refit of the inspection hatches and possibly renew the gasket.
- Analyzing the findings and record in a complete report.

Full inspection of gearbox NORD SK9042.
First we disassembled and cleaned the whole gearbox.
After that, we performed our inspection and made a complete inspection report.

Disassembling of the pitch axis of gearbox Rossi.
We also performed a visual inspection for any damage.
The repairing work was performed according to our inspection report.
We renewed all bearings and assembled the gearbox again.
When assembling was done, we performed a final test run.

A container handling company in the port of Rotterdam invited GBS to perform a vibration measurement on a main hoist gearbox of a deep sea dual trolley container crane.

The spectra recorded on the gearbox showed clear fault frequency peaks related to the high-speed shaft bearings. These recorded fault frequencies indicated bearing damage on the outer ring raceway and rolling elements.

GBS recommended replacing both high-speed shaft bearings as soon as possible and perform an extensive visual inspection of the gearbox. During the first scheduled stand still of the crane GBS performed the repair of the main hoist gearbox.
