Sew Eurodrive gearbox project for a client from Belgium

Sometimes when performing overhaul work on a gearbox it appears that more work is needed than we had estimated in advance. However, it can also be the other way around. This was also the case with this gearbox of the brand Sew Eurodrive that was offered to us by a customer from the chemical sector in Belgium.

In the quotation to the customer we had assumed that the outgoing hollow shaft of the gearbox had to be replaced. During the revision, however, it was assessed that we could also repair the outgoing hollow shaft by using laser cladding.

By repairing parts by means of laser cladding, the costs involved in replacing the part are saved. Because the properties of the base material with laser cladding are preserved, the strength is not compromised.

In addition, the bearings, seals and retaining rings were replaced and we externally preserved the gearbox with a new coat of paint. After a successful test run, the gearbox returned to the customer's factory where it is used to power the agitator.
