2X PIV gearbox inspection and repair for a client from the port of Rotterdam
Rotterdam is internationally known for it's port. It has the largest port in Europe and the second largest in the world. A lot of goods from all over the world enter the European continent this way.
The cranes used by the terminal operators contain a gearbox. As we specialize in gearbox repair, we see a lot of gearboxes from terminal operators for repair or maintenance. With our headquarters being only a small drive away from the port, we can quickly have an engineer on-site if necessary.
One of the terminal operators contacted us to perform an inspection on 2 gearboxes from the German brand PIV. After the gearboxes were delivered to our workshop by the client, our engineer started with the inspection.
After the inspection the report was written by the engineer and talked through with the client. We proposed to the client to overhaul both gearboxes. The client accepted our offer and the work on the gearbox was scheduled for the next weeks.
Afterwards, our in-house quality control department did a 4 hour test-run, to assure the overhaul was performed to our high standards. The gearboxes passed the test-run, and were shipped back to the client to be used in one of their cranes.
