Inspection and repair on LOHMANN+STOLTERFOHT GJZ-1715 gearbox
GBS International was invited by to inspect and overhaul the gearbox and the attached Pneumaflex/Pneumastar clutches.
All major preparations for disassembly, as well as removing all auxiliary equipment, piping and gearbox top cover, were carried out by the Crew and TD of the client.
The shafts of the gearbox were removed from the gearbox under supervision of GBS and transported to the GBS workshop in Oud-Beijerland for further inspection.

Inspection and repair on HANGZOU ADVANCE GEARBOX GWC 6066 gearbox
Scoop of work:
- Repair Propulsion gearbox malfunction of input shaft, gearwheel side bearing.
During this repair the bearing input-shaft (gear wheel side) was damaged. All the roller-bearings of this gearbox are renewed. The 1st and 2nd stage gearwheels and output shaft white-metal bearings are manually dressed up.
Micro pitting is a phenomenon that can be found on (hardened) gears. Multiple factors can affect the development of micro pitting, most important factors are surface roughness, lubrication or an incorrect gear mesh. The damage shows itself by a matted grey colour of the teeth. This as outcome of surface fatigue. The development

Short term action
- Order new input shaft bearings. One QJ axial bearing and two double row spherical bearings.
- Order a complete set of gearbox bearings if the bearing life is close to or exceeding 80.000 running hours.
- Take vibration data on a weekly base.

Inspection and repair on THYSSENKRUPP KDN 400 gearbox
This describes the findings of the inspection of the gearbox of the plate belt. The client commissioned GBS to carry out a visual inspection.
The state of the gearbox is rated as good. No significant damage has been found. The wear images of the various parts are fine.
- The observed foamy substance is probably the result of saponification of the oil, this is a chemical reaction of water with oil. The presence of water in the oil is probably caused by poor ventilation in combination with a low operating temperature.
Recommendations:
- It is recommended to change the oil and remove the foamy substance, and to check the air filter.

Recommendations
- It is essential to recondition (lasercladding) the shaft journal of the pto-shaft, in order to help prevent future damage to the bearing(s) and gearbox as a whole
. - Keeping the running hours into consideration (> 50.000 h.)
- it is recommended to open the complete gearbox for an extensive inspection and replace all the roller bearings and seals;
- Replace oil filter elements as instructed in the oil filter manual;
- It is recommended to check the oil filters and clean the oil filters regularly as instructed in the oil filter manual;
- It is recommended to perform a visual inspection and oil analysis annually to monitor the micropittin

We got invited to do an inspection on a leaking gearbox in a wind turbine.
In case that the leakage is still not solved, it may take some time for the chamber on the hub side to be filled with oil again. It is therefore recommended to:
- Check the wind turbine for oil leakage again after a couple of days / after a week
- Keep inspecting the wind turbine for oil leakage for some time
If no leakage is observed after this period then the problem is solved. It has also been noted that the pitch pipe is not in line with the hollow shaft through the gearbox, it seems to be rubbing on the bottom of the hollow shaft (see appendix A, pictures 4 and 5). The pitch cilinder was also not in line with the pitch pipe. It is th

Inspection and repair on RENK SHH 11 1135,1/760 gearbox
This client from Norway came to us with this RENK SHH 11 1135,1/760. We inspected the gearbox and performed a repair. After a succesful testrun we shipped the gearbox back to the client.
Upon arrival on the vessel in Rotterdam, preparations were made to disassemble the gearbox. Only upon arrival at anchorage in Scheveningen the disassembly could be started.
The gearbox showed no signs of serious damage or wear, beside normal wear on bearings and impact marks on the gears, from running without load. The intermediate shaft driven-end bearing however was found heavily damaged, most likely caused by slipping of the rollers/bearing.
