Inspection and repair of LAMPERTI LD660

Scope of work:

We performed an inspection and repair on a gearbox LAMPERTI LD660.

We got this LAMPERTI LD660 in our workshop in July 2016 from a Belgium client. After the repair we did a test run, we transported the gear unit back to the client.

Scope of work:

On the non-working flank of the pinion, 1st intermediate shaft are indentions observed. The gearwheel 2nd intermediate shaft, non-working flank shows the same indentions. The indentions are probably caused by hard (metal) particles in the oil.

On the working flank of the pinion of the 2nd intermediate shaft and output shaft gearwheel is scoring and pitting observed. The cause of the scoring and pitting could not be identified. The gearwheel with output shaft was already dismantled.

All the rolling bearings show running marks, scratches and indentions. The indentions are caused by hard (metal) particles in the oil.

Corrosion was observed on the output shaft sealing plate. This is probably caused by leakage in the roller.

It is recommended to:

- Disassemble the pinion of the 2nd intermediate shaft and the output shaft. These gears needs to be re-grinded and turned (working flank becomes non-working flank);
- Renew all bearings;
- Renew all seals;
- Clean the complete gearbox;
- During assembly tooth contact pattern of all stages needs to be recorded;
- During assembly backlash needs to be recorded of all stages;
- During assembly axial play of all shafts needs to be recorded.
